In just under two weeks it will be time for our lighthouse work shop for kids! We’ve been busy preparing and are very excited to give you a sneak peek at what you could be making.

The lighthouse is made from wooden pieces and also comes with a fully working light to shine brightly in your room. You will get the opportunity to then decorate your lighthouse with paint, pens and moss to create that seaside feel as well as trying your hand at a bit of electronics.

Spaces on our workshops have booked up fast but we still have some availability. If you’d like to join us and create your very own lighthouse then you can email us at contact@slanchogled.com or give us a call on 0207 284 4762.

Don’t forget we have many other workshops for kids (and grown ups) if you’d like to try something different. Check our facebook or website for more details of whats coming up this summer.

Half Term Crafternoons

8 Feb

half term workshops for children february
After two months of workshops with so many wonderful and creative children at Slanchogled, we are particularly excited about this month’s half term! A week off school is good enough, but that also gives us more time to create stuff together!

We’ve planned five days of workshops, each holding a different creative adventure, and not only that, but we’ll also spend twice as much time on our exciting projects than usual!

We’ll be meeting every day between Monday 18th and Friday 22nd, from 2pm to 4pm. You can join a single workshop or come to all of them! Just remember to book in advance, and the full list of workshops during half term is here.

In the meantime, if you are walking down Chalk Farm Road, look out for our new window! Jenny has painted the whole display especially for the half term workshops, see some of the action here!

See you soon for a crafty afternoon!

Set your sail towards the sun

7 Jul

A year ago, full on with the wind in our sails, we brought to London our experience, ideas, passion for creativity, together with all the bright colours we could fit. Anniversaries usually suggest retrospection, and, looking back, we thought we’d mark the occasion in a way that brought us closer to the start.

We began the voyage of Slanchogled in maritime Varna, Bulgaria over fifteen years ago, full of passion and enthusiasm, dreams and ambition. As an independent business it is overwhelming to see where the tides have taken us, and to have met such inspirational, daring and creative open minds all along the way.

It has been a year now since we set our anchor in Camden. Sea metaphors aside, with the approaching of summer, our innate nautical passion seems to grow stronger.

A fascination with boats became particularly obvious this week as we put careful effort into making this beautiful one for our window. We really liked the way it turned out, so we made some smaller ones too.

The big one takes some time but the materials are basic – cardboard, transparent paper, a few wood sticks to make it stable. We had to look at real boats to get the right model and it inevitably made us wish for an actual one, but it was still a lot of fun putting it together, and satisfying to see it take genuine shape.

On a smaller scale, you can easily make your own nautical craftwork, and we will show you exactly how. This Sunday from 11am, you’re welcome to join our Sailing Ships workshop! And because it’s our special occasion, you’re in for a special treat – it will be free!

And because children are among those who enjoy summer the most, currently in high anticipation of the coming holidays, we dedicate this exclusive workshop to them. It will be delivered by one of their peers too – the 11 year-old Ognyan, whose passion for boats was recently fueled by a trip to the south coastline near Brighton.

Join us for this very special workshop to mark a great year that has passed, welcome an exciting summer ahead, and share our love for the sea.

At Slanchogled we always like to give you tips and hints on how to use a certain material, how to personalise it and create something unique.

You may have witnessed or taken part in one of our spontaneous craft sessions and walked out with a beautiful paper flower, origami shape, a card, and a big smile on your face.

As interest and curiousity massively increased over the past few weeks, we’ve decided to give you more opportunities to learn and practise new skills.

That’s why we’re starting regular art and craft workshops on weekends!

Workshops will be different every month, suitable for all levels of experience – making them great family fun! Spend time together, learn something new and walk out proudly with a remarkable work of art you crafted yourself! Share it, wear it, or make a nice surprise for someone!
